Get paid on time this Christmas

As Christmas approaches, most of us get into the festive spirit. The parties start, the drink flows, the food gets more and more, leaving you loosening your belt. How festive will you feel when you check your bank account and realise not all your invoices have been paid - you may find yourself having to tighten your belt instead...

There are less business days in December, which means there are less days for your clients to pay your invoices. We thought we might give you a few tips to try and deal with things, and have a nice relaxed Christmas:

1. As with most businesses in December, Banks close down for periods longer than usual. This has a knock-on effect on paying in checks, but also with Direct Debit too. So know your bank dates and times. Eazipay's processing dates over the festive period are

CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR PROCESSING DATES

We will not be processing any files on the 25th & 28th December 2015 and the 1st January 2016.  Please ensure you send us your files in plenty of time.

For the following dates please ensure files are sent to us by 12 midday;

24th, 29th, 30th & 31st December.

2. Know who pays on time and who doesn't. We should all know our customers, but if you have one you are unsure of, make some discreet enquiries on the kind of payer they are. Obviously, you are not the only company that might be getting paid late, they may have their own issues, but talking things through with them can relieve all sorts of pressures.

3. Have a good strong contract in place. Companies can have late payment penalties in their contracts, use them. Start as you mean to carry on, and be upfront about payment terms with the client, that way you are not surprising them. Always be crystal clear with your client before you take any recovery steps.

4. Use online invoicing, it really is the future. It makes everyone's life much much easier. It is quicker and gets to them straight away.

5. Obviously, the best way is to get paid on time is to have the money appear in your bank account on the day you are expecting it. You won't be surprised, that with Eazipay being a Direct Debit Bureau we advocate using Direct Debit as your preferred money collection method. However, don't just take our word for it, have a look at some of our testimonials https://www.eazipay.co.uk/client-testimonials
